100 Day!

Today was the 100th Day of School!  We  had a very busy day with lots of exciting activity.  Around 9:30, Zero the Hero flew in and entertained the students with stories and magic tricks.  The video shows a short "question and answer" time.  The other pictures  show some highlights from our day.

Zero the Hero's favourite joke:
Q:  What did the Zero say to the Eight?
A:  Nice belt!

We had a special snack today!  Students collected 10 pieces of 10 items to make 100!

Students collecting their snacks.  They counted 10 things into a cup at a time.

This student has 100 yummy snacks!

Each student brought a collection of 100 things to school today.
We learned different ways to show 100.  One way is 2 groups of 50.

Another way is 50 groups of 2.

 Or  10 groups of 10.

During DEAR time, we wanted to see if we could read 100 books.
We actually read 125 books in 10 minutes!  Wow!

In the afternoon, the students worked in groups and rotated through
4 different activities.  They made necklaces out of 100 fruit loops.  This picture
shows students counting out 10 groups of 10 before they put them on their strings.

They played a dice game called "Roll to 100".

They made a graph to show how many of each colour there was in a
bag of 100 M and Ms.  (Mr. McPhail came to help out for the afternoon!)

They made a design of 100 pattern blocks and then counted
how many of each colour.

The end of the day - everyone is wearing their fruit loop necklaces
and special 100 day glasses!
It was a great day!
